If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Seriously, a uni to uni is a great connection. I use it alot on my casting/inshore gear. You can also use a Bimini to Bimini connection with a Catspaw actually connecting the 2 Biminis. Its a little more difficult to tie a Bimini, but worth learning. It maintains 100% of the lines breaking strength.
You can also use an Albright knot to join the 2.
Get a book by Vic Dunaway called " Complete Book of Baits Rigs and Tackle" It's a complete guide for everything fishing. Has a great section on tying knots.
