We heard everyone was headed to the east part of the Cigar. So we decided to fish the west end of it. We were the only boat fishing in our area all day. Water was cooler and there were signs of life. Within 5 min we had our shotgun go screaming, picked up the rod and fought for 2 min or so then the line poped and went slack. Get all the line in and find that the swivel had broken in two. So lines back out and about a half hour later the spreader bar goes off, and we boat a nice Wahoo. That was it for the rest of the day. We found some huge weed patches loaded with bait and saw a few small mahi but could not get them to bite on anything. Pulled lines in at 1:30 and headed for the barn. Somehow managed to miss all the thunderstorms off VA Beach. All in all a good day, but I can't wait for some cooler water. See ya'll the Bluewater Classic in 2 weeks.

Cool, nice job on the wahoo.

The west side on the cigar did look very full of life, lots of flying fish jumping all the way to the hotdog. I kind of wished we would have dropped baits further west, but you only had so many hours in the day.

We had a hard time getting the bailers to strike also, did they at least take your chunks of chum?

They would come up and look at it, then just turn around and swim back down deep. Bait fish were everywhere.

Good report KTrain. You were smart to fish that side --there have been 200 boats working the east side for 7 staight days.
I personally think those weed lines are beat to death. I believe that's why there is so few dolphin under them. What few are there are chummed so hard they don't want to eat. Everybody is afraid they are going to get skunked -so everyone is bailing. sad-smiley-067.gif

Glad we did our part Sunday to give those poor fish a rest!
