  1. Anybody know what this is???

Its probably a trolling rod for crappie. Look up spider trolling. They are made super cheap, so no doubt they are made overseas. Cheap because some guys troll a dozen of them. That reel will work, but its more than you will need. This rod needs a reel only to adjust the depth and fight the fish. The cheap reel that normally goes on a rod like that is not designed to cast very well. Think of this rod as a high end cane pole. It probably stupid long also, some are 10-16ft long in order to get bait away from the boat.
  2. Pirate Captains Needed!!

I cant do any of those
  3. Im going to mix things up. I hope to do more freshwater LMB and bream this year, along with puppy drum and specs. I also neglected Cobia the last few years, going to give them a shot again this year.
  4. Dump site bouy

They can be very docile after being hit in head with a stick.
  5. Dump site bouy

On a more serious note, looks like you can bail specs and pups in Lynnhaven right now. Andrew, when you taking me on a Spec ops trip? (Speckled trout night operation)
  6. Awesome report Ken! Helps the cabin fever
  7. Dump site bouy

Bob, want go halfsies on a Cobia Charter out to the dump site? Not sure if Capt Todd has a Tower, but we can strap a lawn chair on the T-top and take turns sight casting. Looking forward to picking your inshore brain!
  8. Blue Cats were hungry today!

Thanks for the report, never fished for cats up here.
  9. Report

Way to get them on the fish Todd!
  10. Weird year for Rockfish. I would make the run down myself if anything was going on, if for any reason just to run the boat. Caught a few fish casting the CBBT this year, thats about it.
  11. Thanks for the report, might be worth a ride out if not for this cold, windy, weather. Looks like it will stick around for at least a week. Boat is winterized!
  12. Sounds like very important research Ken, thanks for sharing.
  13. Thruth be told, the problem is that I had time to fish this year. Two years ago i was out of town all Dec, and at sea all of Jan. Of course it was epic! If I was out of town, or too busy writing papers the fishing would be on fire! There you have it.
  14. Indiantown Creek 1/10/14

    You slow trolling I assume
  15. What is the purpose of the DNA samples?
  16. I would say finding the spot in Rudee that Myself and my stepson caught 75 specs and a Citation was one of the more memorable days fishing this year. Wife and I had numerous days catching Bream, always a good time! Too a canoe trip dwn the shenandoah river with a old Navy buddy and caught about 100 Bream and a nice smallmouth Bass. Going to need to do that trip again! I tried to get the wife a Citation this year, but she just could not reel the big drum in. This year saw the biggest Ive ever seen. On 3-4 trips with Cirwin on Sea Change, we had about 10 Citations on offshore trips. I lost my fishing partner to cancer in 2013, pretty much changed everything.
  17. Thanks for all the trips Craig. None of them sucked! 2014 will be another great year! Eric
  18. Looks like a nice day in the ER, I took the wife on New years day and it was a little more wind and a bit less sun than the forecast. Might not get her out there again.
  19. Easy to see on the sounder when your on top of it. http://www.mrc.virginia.gov/vsrfdf/pdf/eoceanview_reef_grid.pdf
  20. I remember a few years back, every single time I left LC inlet there would be a bee hive right outside the inlet. Drop lines and Bam, Bam, Bam. Thanks for the report and thanks for your service!
  21. Maybe they will stock it with fish? I live right next to it and find it hard to justify the 40 bucks!
  22. We lost one of our brothers today. John Ambrose (Carolinasman) passed away after a battle with Cancer. If you knew John, you know he was loved and he will be greatly missed. I was blessed to have known him and his family, spent many days on the water with him catching a few fish. I love you brother Eric
