    Rod questions

MH with a fast action. A 12-20lb or 12-25lb should match up pretty good with that reel. Of course if you want to go "lighter" a 10lb-17lb rod would do. Reel may be a tick on the heavy side for the 10-17 though. Balance would be to reel side. But that makes it easier to work certain baits.

    local club meeting

The next meeting of the Bull Island Angler's club will be Monday May 18th. The meeting will start at 7pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson, VA. The address is 1294 Poquoson Ave. The meeting is free and open to the public. We normally meet on the 4th Monday of the month, but since that is Memorial Day we decided to meet on the 3rd Monday for this month. Please note the correction. Our speaker this month is going to be Steve York. Steve will be talking about Spadefishing. Mr. York is a member of the MAKO fishing team and holds or held several world records for Spadefish. He has agreed to share his techniques with us. Steve has spoken to the club before and did a banner job, and this talk should be the same. If spadefishing has been a mystery to you, this is the meeting you want to attend, as Mr. Steve York will help solve some of the mystery. Look forward to seeing ya'll there.

  6. The October meeting of the Bull Island Angler's Club will be Monday October 27th at 7pm. The meeting will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 1294 Poquoson Ave in Poquoson ,VA. This month's topic will be speckled trout. The speckle trout season has started and will run until early December if the warmer weather stays around. We have a local Poquosonite who has agreed to talk about catching them. This person has caught specks from Rudee Inlet to the Mobjack Bay and all places in between. Our speaker will talk about trolling, drift-casting, and casting for speckle trout in our local waters. He has also agreed to "give up" two or three of his favorite locations for citation sized speckle trout. Should be a great informational meeting about one of best fish to catch in the Bay!! Hope to see all ya'll there.
  7. If the tide is half way up you can catch all the mullet you want at the wash out of factory point.
  8. Just about everytime I pull up a flounder there are 8-10 spades following it up. Haven't seen the big one like you did. The ones I see are only about 4-5 lbs.
