  1. We had a Father with his sons on vacation get together with us this morning to go on the hunt for some Flounder and Big Red Drum. We had some tough weather with high seas up to 5 foot lately so we had canceled our trips since the last report, finally we had a beautiful morning with south winds and the seas laid down. The water was still sandy and the Flounder bite was really tough today, we didn’t catch any keepers, but the Big Red Drum, Ray, Shark and Sea bass gave us the most action today. We ended up catching some Big Bull Red Drum today measuring 33 and 41 inches that weren’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award ( 46 inches for Red Drum ). The 41 incher is bigger than it looks because the big guy holding it is 6’5”. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. We were back to the dock around noon and beat the Afternoon Storm. Lots of fun.
  2. We had our hard core fishing couple with us again this morning. The weather had been keeping them from fishing, but when it finally looked fishable for them they had to go. It was a bit breezier then the forecast with winds at 15 to 20 and at times 20 to 25 knots which made fishing a more difficult but they wanted to go anyway. Since the winds were out of the south the waves weren’t too big and we were able to keep the boat from rocking too much. Other than the wind it was a Beautiful Sunny Day. We caught a few nice Flounder up to 19 inches, we also caught some keeper Puppy Drum today for the cooler and Red Bull Drum at 37 inches that wasn’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award ( 46 inches for Red Drum ). The Big Red may not have won a trophy but it sure gave him a fight to remember and wore him out for a bit. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  3. We had a Crazy Fun Family get out fishing with us this morning. It was a beautiful day with light SW winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay. We messed around with the Spadefish today and ended up putting their limit in the box. It was hard to break away from the Spadefish action but they wanted some Flounder too. We ended up catching a few Flounder with the time we had left. We also caught the normal other stuff like little Seabass, Oyster Toads and such and got back to the dock around noon before the afternoon heat kicked in. Lots of Fun.
  4. Today we had a Father and Son go out fishing with us for some Flounder Fishing. We caught 6 Flounder today up to 19 inches keeping only 2 for dinner today. We definitely had a couple big ones on but they shook the hook. The bite was finicky but they were there. We also got Bluefish and Grey Triggerfish for the cooler. It was beautiful today with light winds and some overcast keeping it cooler and we were back to the dock around Noon. We also caught the normal variety of the other stuff like Oyster toads, small Sea bass and such.
  5. We had a family outing for Mom and Dad to get the boys out fishing with Key Dreams this morning. It was a beautiful day with light South winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay. We ended up starting with the Spadefish and they finally got the hang of the bite and got their boat limit of 28 Spadefish for the Cooler and released one, and also got one grey trigger fish for a little variety. 7. We had a family visiting their Navy daughter. Dad wanted to get the family out for some Family Fun fishing with us this morning. It was a beautiful day with light winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay. We ended up starting with the Spadefish and they were just having too much fun to leave and the current was just rite so we stayed with them for most of the trip. Time flew by and they did want to catch some flounder to go along with their Spadefish so we ran off to get some flounder but with less than an hour we caught a couple Flounder but they were just a little under the 17 inch minimum limit. We didn’t catch the other stuff today like little Seabass, Oyster Toads and such since we spent so little time flounder fishing today. These guys were a lot of fun and kept us laughing, oh yea that’s not Justin Bieber. They did say sometimes while visiting other places in the past they have had young ladies approach him thinking he was Justin Bieber. We got back to the dock before it got really Hot. Lots of Fun.

  9. We had a half day Family Fun Fishing trip today where were 3 generations got out fishing with the kids on KeyDreams on this beautiful morning on the Chesapeake Bay. The Flounder bight was finicky and the flounder magnet turned out to be the little girl today catching almost all of the Flounder. I was told back home she out fishes everyone in the lakes and rivers too. We did managed to get 7 Flounder with but only 2 keeper Flounder made it to the box. We also caught a couple Spadefish, along with the other variety of fish like Oyster Toads, Sea bass, and Croaker. It was a Fun and Beautiful day on the Chesapeake Bay today.
  10. We had a Family Fun Fishing trip today for the Boys to get out fishing with KeyDreams on this beautiful morning on the Chesapeake Bay. The Flounder bight was good and we did managed to get 11 Flounder with 6 Big Keepers ranging up to 24 inches. We also spent some time working on the Spadefish that were finicky again today but we still managed to get a bunch for the cooler. During the day I looked down in the cockpit and saw a couple of them biting the heads off the live baits and my First mate taking pictures. I later found out the story. Apparently they were taking a break to have some Zucchini Bread that one of the guys was supposed to bring, but instead they realized he brought Banana Bread, so to break the Banana on a boat curse they bit the heads off some of the Live Bait to make amends. We also caught Skates, Oyster Toads and Seabass. It was a Fun and Beautiful day on the Chesapeake Bay with a Great bunch of guys. Lots of Fun.

Tropical Storm/Depression Julia has been lingering off the Eastern Coast messing up the weather for us lately. We spent the first couple hours catching Spot, Croaker, Roundheads, and little Grey Trout and the kids had a ball. I love seeing our next generation getting excited about fishing. Fishing is so much better than getting emotionally involved with an electronic device you hold in your hand. We spent the second half of the trip looking for something bigger. The kids where surprisingly quick at learning the techniques and strong for their size and I believe out-fished Mom and Dad. They caught Flounder up to 19 ½”, Puppy Drum up to 25”, Baby Cobia, Grey Trout up to 15”, Roundheads, Spot, Croaker, Baby Seabass, Puffer Fish, Oyster Toad, and they got just as excited about everyone.
