  1. When the wind blew it blew hard in all directions with short interludes of calm seas. Near the end of May the weather started to get more stable like it’s trying to get into the summer pattern, then Tropical Storm Alberto hits Florida and gives us tons of rain for the tail end of May. The Tog season was extended to May 15th giving us two more weeks to catch them up. The Croaker started bighting good around the middle of May. Flounder bight was tough but a few nice fish were caught, our largest for May was 18 inches. The Flounder bite picked up real good June 1st last year and got better as the water warmed up. Red Drum have been cruising into the Bay coming up the coast real good the last couple of weeks along with the Cobia. Cobia season opens June 1st this year. Here is a picture of a Citation Red Drum we caught. Overall we had Lots of fun with Great People.
  2. We had a Crazy Fun Family get out fishing with us this morning. It was a beautiful day with light SW winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay. We messed around with the Spadefish today and ended up putting their limit in the box. It was hard to break away from the Spadefish action but they wanted some Flounder too. We ended up catching a few Flounder with the time we had left. We also caught the normal other stuff like little Seabass, Oyster Toads and such and got back to the dock around noon before the afternoon heat kicked in. Lots of Fun.
  3. Today we had a Father and Son go out fishing with us for some Flounder Fishing. We caught 6 Flounder today up to 19 inches keeping only 2 for dinner today. We definitely had a couple big ones on but they shook the hook. The bite was finicky but they were there. We also got Bluefish and Grey Triggerfish for the cooler. It was beautiful today with light winds and some overcast keeping it cooler and we were back to the dock around Noon. We also caught the normal variety of the other stuff like Oyster toads, small Sea bass and such.
  4. We had a Family outing for Mom and Dad to get the Kids out fishing and catch some Flounder. I was a too windy on first scheduled day and T-Storms on the second scheduled day, but 3 was a charm and it was gorgeous and easy to fish this day. We ended up putting 8 Flounder in the box up to 22 inches. Dad was the Flounder Magnet with the magic touch catching most of the Flounder today. We fished for Flounder for a short period of time and ended up only catching couple undersized. We messed around with the Spadefish and ended up putting 14 nice sized ones in the box. We also caught the normal other stuff like little Seabass, Oyster Toads, Skates and such and got back to the dock around 11am before it got really Hot. Lots of Fun.
  12. We had a Dad get the boys out fishing with us this morning. It was a beautiful day with light SW winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay. We ended up catching 6 Flounder with one of them 21 inches. The Spadefish ended up taking center stage today catching their limit and keeping the rods bent with those Crazy Fish. We also caught the normal other stuff like Bluefish, Skates, Croaker, Roundhead, Porgy, little Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  13. We had a Mom and Dad get their kids out for some Family Fun Flounder fishing this morning for a half day trip. It was the youngest boys 7th birthday and he was a blast all morning. We finally had a short lay down of the waves and had a beautiful sunny morning with light southerly winds. Tropical Storm/Depression Julia has been lingering off the Eastern Coast messing up the weather for us lately. We spent the first couple hours catching Spot, Croaker, Roundheads, and little Grey Trout and the kids had a ball. I love seeing our next generation getting excited about fishing. Fishing is so much better than getting emotionally involved with an electronic device you hold in your hand. We spent the second half of the trip looking for something bigger. The kids where surprisingly quick at learning the techniques and strong for their size and I believe out-fished Mom and Dad. They caught Flounder up to 19 ½”, Puppy Drum up to 25”, Baby Cobia, Grey Trout up to 15”, Roundheads, Spot, Croaker, Baby Seabass, Puffer Fish, Oyster Toad, and they got just as excited about everyone. What a Blast, lots of fun.
  14. We had a Group of friends celebrating with a fishing bachelor party for a quick Half Day morning trip. It was a beautiful sunny day with light south winds. We caught some Flounder from 15 to 19 inch, Red Drum from 19 to 34 inch today and the other stuff like little Black Sea Bass, Oyster toads, Skates, Grunts, Croaker and such. The Biggest Drum for the day wasn’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award but there out there and we’ll get them soon. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  15. We had a family outing for the boys to get out fishing with us this morning. It was a beautiful day with light SW winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay. We ended up catching 9 Flounder with 4 of them really nice Keepers ranging from 19 to 22 inches. We messed around with some Spadefish today and ended up putting their limit in the box with one grey trigger fish for a little variety. 16. We had a family trip with Mom getting her Son out this morning for a half day fishing trip. We had a beautiful sunny day with light winds. It didn’t take long this morning for her son to get hooked up on a reel screamer. The Big Red Drum came in at 47 inched big enough for the Virginia Big Fish Release Citation Award. He ended up hooking into 3 of these Big Red Bull Drums, and two of them where big enough. The second citation was 46 ½ inches long. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also ended up with 4 nice keeper Flounder up to 20 inches in the box for some good eating. Lots of fun.
  17. We had Family and Friend group go out fishing with us today for a quick ½ day morning trip looking for a fun day on the Chesapeake Bay. We had lite winds which made the fishing easy and it was overcast making it a little cooler but we did get some light rain and sprinkles throughout the morning, but these girls didn’t care about getting a little wet, they were just having too much fun. First thing we hooked up on a reel screamer. Generally this time of year a reel screamer ends up being a Big Bull Red Drum, but this time it was a Big Sting Ray. They had a bunch of fun playing with the ray and taking pictures. We saw a bunch of Dolphins so we got a little closer for pics and they surrounded the boat while they were feeding and playing, even saw some flips and back stroking, there was also baby’s in the pod. Got back to fishing and everyone caught some really nice flounder. We ended up catching 7 Flounder with 5 of them Keeper size for dinner. Lots of Fun.
  18. After another Northeast Blow shutting us down for a spell we finally got out again for some fishing. We don’t take our folks out in that nasty weather and big waves, for us it’s all about the fun and keeping it safe for everybody and enjoying the day. Today we had a regular from New Jersey fishing with us again this year for a half day fishing trip. Last year she got her Big Red, but this year she wanted a Big Cobia, but still wanted some Flounder for eating. We knocked out our flounder fishing early catching them up to 19 inches, and then we spent the next 3 hours Cobia Fishing. It took a bit of looking to find them, but we did find a couple Cobia to play with. We also put Bluefish in the cooler and caught the other various fish like Black Sea Bass, Oyster Toads, and even a couple small Black Grouper. It was beautiful today with light winds and some overcast keeping it cooler.
  19. We had a group of friends get together and go out fishing with us Today for some Flounder and Drum fishing. We had a beautiful day with little to no wind and not too hot. We ended up catching 12 Flounder with 9 of them Keeper size up to 22 inches. We hit 2 Red Drum Today 30”, 31” inches, all the Reds today where “Betweener Red Drum” Between keeper size and Trophy Citation size. We ended up messing around with some Spadefish today and put 6 in the box with one bluefish for a little variety. We also caught the normal other stuff like Croakers, Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  20. We had a Family outing to get the twins out to catch their first flounder. I was a bit windier and rougher then the weather man predicted but we managed to keep it fairly comfortable for youngsters. We ended up catching 8 Flounder with 6 of them Keeper size up to 19 inches. We also caught the normal other stuff like Croakers, bluefish, Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  21. My 1st mate and I went out today quick trip since it was so nice and we had a chance to fish for ourselves for a change. My mate wanted to catch some Big Red Drum and she got one at 42 inches. We also caught some fresh Flounder for dinner. Lots of fun.
  22. We had some friends get together with us this morning for some fishing. It was a nice day with south winds. The Flounder bight was tough today with mostly undersized Flounder but we managed 1 nice keeper Flounder over 20 inches. The Red Drum was too big to keep but not quite big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation measuring in at 44 inches. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also caught some Bluefish and Croaker to go along with the Flounder for the table. Lots of fun.
  23. We had a mother take her son out fishing with us for their annual 1/2 Day fishing trip this Columbus Day. The forecast was fine but the size of the left over waves from the previous blow were unexpected. We were pretty much dealing with a 2 foot plus 5-6 second swell which wasn’t bad for the ride but was stirring the bottom up pretty good and hindered the bite. The bite was slow for everything including the oyster toads, but we did manage to catch some nice Flounder. We didn’t hit any Puppy Drum or Bull Reds today, but I’m certain they are still here.
  24. We had a fathers get his son and nephew out for some fishing. Today the Puppy Drum too big to keep and our biggest Red Drum measured in at 47 inches which was big enough for a Virginia Big Fish Citation Trophy. We also caught some Flounder, Grey Trout, Bluefish, Seabass Oyster toads and such. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Maybe you can land a Big Red Drum, give us a call. Lots of fun.
  25. We had two fathers get there sons out fishing with us this weekend. The forecast was sketchy at best all weekend but we saw a couple of windows to run and got half days in with fair seas between the blows. The Flounder we caught where thick and heavy with the bigger ones measuring in up to 22 inches. We managed one keeper Puppy Drum and our biggest Red Drum measured in at 42 inches which was fun to catch and wowed everyone on board, but wasn’t big enough for a Virginia Citation Trophy. We also caught Bluefish, Seabass Oyster toads and such. The bite was slower than usual and may have been contributed to the big ocean swells and the sandy water generated by them. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
