  1. We had a Father with his sons on vacation get together with us this morning to go on the hunt for some Flounder and Big Red Drum. We had some tough weather with high seas up to 5 foot lately so we had canceled our trips since the last report, finally we had a beautiful morning with south winds and the seas laid down. The water was still sandy and the Flounder bite was really tough today, we didn’t catch any keepers, but the Big Red Drum, Ray, Shark and Sea bass gave us the most action today. We ended up catching some Big Bull Red Drum today measuring 33 and 41 inches that weren’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award ( 46 inches for Red Drum ). The 41 incher is bigger than it looks because the big guy holding it is 6’5”. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. We were back to the dock around noon and beat the Afternoon Storm. Lots of fun.
  2. We had a Group of friends celebrating with a fishing bachelor party for a quick Half Day morning trip. It was a beautiful sunny day with light south winds. We caught some Flounder from 15 to 19 inch, Red Drum from 19 to 34 inch today and the other stuff like little Black Sea Bass, Oyster toads, Skates, Grunts, Croaker and such. The Biggest Drum for the day wasn’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award but there out there and we’ll get them soon. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  3. We had a family trip with Mom getting her Son out this morning for a half day fishing trip. We had a beautiful sunny day with light winds. It didn’t take long this morning for her son to get hooked up on a reel screamer. The Big Red Drum came in at 47 inched big enough for the Virginia Big Fish Release Citation Award. He ended up hooking into 3 of these Big Red Bull Drums, and two of them where big enough. The second citation was 46 ½ inches long. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also ended up with 4 nice keeper Flounder up to 20 inches in the box for some good eating. Lots of fun.
  4. We have gotten out a few times with friends between the 5th and 10th hitting some really nice Striper up to 38 inches and weighing up to 25.5 pounds. These Striper have been Fat and healthy looking. The bite is still tough but I expect it will come easier as more fish arrive in the area and their competitive nature kicks in. It makes it harder to catch fish with the Striper be finicky and soft biting and all boats racing around or cruising on plane along and around the bridge pilings shutting down the bite. Please idle down around other fisherman and along the bridge, and idle away from the bridge before getting up on plane and everyone will be happier. On the night of the 5th I was at trolling speed along the bridge just outside the light line looking for some fish and a boat actually ran on plane between me and the bridge on the light line close enough that his curling wake slapped on my bow. I thought he probably wasn’t paying attention and it was an accident, but he did it again a couple nights later accept I was under the bridge and his wake splashed up on my transom after he went by even closer to the bridge. This is a dangerous situation, other than shutting down the bite for a while and rocking all the boats in your wake, people have been killed out then when someone does this and there is another boat going through the bridge or kayaker fishing along the bridge are in peril. Every pilling is a blind spot. Get away from the bridge to cruise north and south. If you are too scared to cruise away from the bridge at night then you should at least idle down and troll all the whole way which would give you more reaction time to prevent hitting someone. #1 rule out there is keep it safe!
  5. My 1st mate and I went out today quick trip since it was so nice and we had a chance to fish for ourselves for a change. My mate wanted to catch some Big Red Drum and she got one at 42 inches. We also caught some fresh Flounder for dinner. Lots of fun.
  6. We had some friends get together with us this morning for some fishing. It was a nice day with south winds. The Flounder bight was tough today with mostly undersized Flounder but we managed 1 nice keeper Flounder over 20 inches. The Red Drum was too big to keep but not quite big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation measuring in at 44 inches. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also caught some Bluefish and Croaker to go along with the Flounder for the table. Lots of fun.
  7. We had a fathers get his son and nephew out for some fishing. Today the Puppy Drum too big to keep and our biggest Red Drum measured in at 47 inches which was big enough for a Virginia Big Fish Citation Trophy. We also caught some Flounder, Grey Trout, Bluefish, Seabass Oyster toads and such. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Maybe you can land a Big Red Drum, give us a call. Lots of fun.
  8. We had two fathers get there sons out fishing with us this weekend. The forecast was sketchy at best all weekend but we saw a couple of windows to run and got half days in with fair seas between the blows. The Flounder we caught where thick and heavy with the bigger ones measuring in up to 22 inches. We managed one keeper Puppy Drum and our biggest Red Drum measured in at 42 inches which was fun to catch and wowed everyone on board, but wasn’t big enough for a Virginia Citation Trophy. We also caught Bluefish, Seabass Oyster toads and such. The bite was slower than usual and may have been contributed to the big ocean swells and the sandy water generated by them. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  9. We had a group of friends go out fishing with us this morning for a half day fishing trip for some Flounder and Drum fishing. The Northerly winds finally subsided for us today so we had a nice day before the north winds pick up again tonight. The bite was good from the start, we ended up catching 5 Flounder with 1 of them Keeper size, and some bluefish, we also had a multiple hook up with “Betweener” Reds in the mid 30 inch range, too big for keeping and too small for citation. Then we hooked up with a Reel Screamer. The angler was keeping good pressure on this fish the whole time, but this fish just wouldn’t quit fighting. Two hours later we saw color for first time. We were expecting to see something like a 9 foot Bull Shark or a 100 plus pound Cobia, but to our surprise it was a Big Red Bull Drum. We have literally caught hundreds Big Red Bulls like this over the years but never had one fight so long and hard with screaming runs rite up to the end. The Big Red only measured in at 47” which surprised us since it was much shorter than you would think it would be for such a long fight. To top it off the Big Red Drum was easy to Revive and Release and it swam off Strong slapping the water with its tail on the way back to the bottom. By the time we landed the Big Red it was time to head for the dock to get their Big Fish Virginia Citation Award, but we decided to try and get another big one for a while but it appeared the bite slowed with the turning of the tide, so we went on back to the dock. Lots of Fun.
  10. Today we had our Annual Hard Core Fishing Couple onboard. A Husband and Wife team that has been married 45 years and love to fish together just about every day the weather lets them. They routinely fish on the Bay Princess Party Boat out of Lynnhaven, but once a year ride with us as an anniversary fishing trip. This young lady of 82 years really surprises us each year with her determination to catch fish. It was a beautiful sunny day with southerly winds. We Caught 10 Flounder with 4 Really nice sized keepers for the cooler, we also caught some Red Drums today with one small enough for the cooler at 24 inches and a one Big Red Bull that was just Big Enough for a Big Fish Virginia Citation Award measuring in at 46". The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  11. We had a Husband and Wife on vacation get together with us this morning for some Flounder fishing. It was a beautiful sunny day with light south winds. We Caught 12 Flounder with 5 big enough for the cooler, we also caught some Red Drums today with one small enough for the cooler at 24 inches and the two big Bulls just weren’t quite big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award measuring in at 43" 44". The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  12. The Striper fishing has been really good but the increase of extremely over aggressive fisherman cruising around the bridge structures and over our lines have been routinely shutting the bite down on us making it hard to maintain a consistent bite. Here is a brief summary of our recorded catches starting from November 15th 2013. Nov 15th 2013 - We had a chance to get some more fishing in with the nice weather so we went for it. The winds where light but we did end up having a little rain shower. We did hit one Puppy Drum today and the Striper bite is continuing to improve. We ended up catching over 43 Striper ranging from 19" up to 34 inches. Lots of fun. Nov 17th 2013 - We ran out for a quick trip since the winds where light and conditions where really nice. When we got out there it was more crowded then it has been. We caught a couple Striper and puppy Drum rite away, another nearby boat announced the catch on the radio and the boats came running, starred us down and we got crowded by trolling boats and the bite got shut down. We only fished for another hour without another bight and went home. Nov 22nd 2013 - We went out fishing and managed 31 keeper sized Striper ranging from 19" up to 37" inches and numerous undersized Striper. Lots of fun. Nov 25th 2013 - We went out fishing and managed 37 keeper sized Striper ranging from 19" up to 36" inches and numerous undersized Striper. Lots of fun.
  13. My Mate and I went out this afternoon since the wind and seas calmed down and we had a window before the Big North West Cold Blow with Snow coming on Tuesday. We were targeting Striper but we still caught 2 keeper Puppy Drum and plenty of Striper ranging from 23" up to 44 inches. I caught the 44 inch Striper that weighed in at 33 pounds since it was slender but a very clean beautiful Striper. My First mates biggest Striper for the day was 35 inches and also a very nice looking fish. Lots of fun.
  14. We had a Father, Son and Friend out with us this morning a for a quick trip and it was a beautiful day with lite winds. We did still have some residual waves from the earlier blow. We were primarily targeting Striper but we still caught 2 keeper Puppy Drum and a 27" Striper. The son wanted to get his dad out fishing to catch something bigger then they usually catch crappie fishing. Well his dad is the one who caught the big striper, so they where happy. It was a tough bite this morning, and I didn’t hear of any other striper being caught, so we all felt pretty good with our humble catch. That’s fishing and they kept the whole trip a lot of fun as it should be with the rite attitude. Lots of fun.
  15. My 1st mate and I went out today since it was so nice and we hadn’t had a chance to fish for ourselves for a while. My mate wanted a Virginia Big Fish Citation for a Red Drum for herself and she got one at 47 inches. We also caught some Puppy Drum and a few nice striper ranging from 20 to 29 inches. Lots of fun.
  16. We finally got out after that long blow. We got a group of friends out for some fishing together before they deploy overseas, and it was pretty much just a catch and release day. It was a gorgeous sunny day with light south winds, we still had some waves rolling in from the ocean on the incoming tide but was much calmer on the outgoing tide. The Big Reds are obviously still around. The Big Reds and Puppy Drum seemed to dominate the action today, but we still caught other fish like Croaker, Black Sea Bass, Skates and Oyster Toads. We had some fun chasing down 2 Big Red Drum Bulls on light tackle, which made the Big Fish Virginia Citation at 47 and 51 inches. The Big Reds were all released and swam off to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  17. We had some friends get together with us today for some fishing. It was a gorgeous sunny day with light south winds. The Flounder bight was tough today with mostly undersized Flounder but we managed 1 keeper Flounder. The Reds certainly made up for the slow Flounder bite. We did keep busy with the Puppy Drum action putting 18 in the box averaging 23 to 24 inches long for a fish fry. We also had some fun chasing down 4 Big Red Drum Bulls on light tackle, but only one made the Big Fish Virginia Citation at 47 inches. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  18. We had a group friends on vacation get together this morning to go on the hunt for some Flounder and whatever else we could find. It was a beautiful sunny day with light variable winds. The Flounder bite was really tough today with only 4 Flounder that where too small to keep. The Red Drum and baby Black Seabass gave us the most action today. We did get one Black Seabass that measured at 13 ½ inches for the box, but the rest where too small. We ended up catching some nice Puppy Red Drum and some Big Bull Red Drum today and two of them were big enough for a Virginia Big Fish Citation Trophy at 46 ½ and 47 inches for the release citation. We only got a couple pictures today since with all the excitement we forgot to turn the camera off and the battery died on us. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  19. We had a group of retired friends get together this morning to share time together doing some Flounder fishing with us. It was a beautiful sunny day with light variable winds. We ended up with 5 nice keeper Flounder up to 20 inches, 2 Keeper Grey trout up to 17 ½ inches, 2 keeper Puppy Drum, Croaker, Roundhead and pan size Bluefish for the cooler. We released about a 4' Shark at the back of the boat. We also ended up catching 4 Red Drum today and one of them was big enough for a Virginia Big Fish Citation Trophy at 46 ½ inches for the release. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  20. We had some friends get together this morning for some Flounder fishing. It was a beautiful sunny day with light south winds. We hit a nice 21 inch Flounder in the first 10 minutes fishing, but then the flounder bight got tough the rest of the morning for the Flounder with no more Keeper Flounder caught, but we got 5 Red Drum. We did have some good action on the Red Drum this morning with 2 Puppy Drum for the cooler. We also had some fun chasing down 3 Big Red Drum Bulls on light tackle measuring in at 44" 47" 47" for 2 Big Fish Virginia Citations. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  21. We had a family from North Carolina come up for some Flounder fishing this morning. We had a beautiful sunny day with light south winds. We had another surprise today when we hooked up another Big Red Drum. After a good fight we landed a 43 inch Red Drum for some pictures. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. We ended up with 8 nice keeper Flounder for some good eating. Lots of fun.
  22. We had a family fun fishing trip this morning looking for some Flounder on a beautiful day. We had a surprise when we got a reel screamer on the light tackle and had to chase the fish for a bit to keep line on the spool. After a good fight we landed a pretty 47 inch Red Drum for some pictures and a release citation. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. We ended up with 7 keeper flounder for some good eating. Lots of fun.
