old gas, motor trouble

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 johnson 140 4stroke that was running fine last Dec. Planned on but did not get to use boat any more. Started motor last week and motor is missing not all the time but pretty bad. Could this be the old gas and if so what could I do to fix it.

thanks in advance

Yes it could be the gas but it could also be carbon build up on the plugs. Drain the gas, change all the filters and plugs and see what happens. Use a stabilizer even if your going to use the boat it helps. Also don't keep fuel in the boat keep the least amount you can it will keep the water to a minimum. Good Luck
