  1. For those of you that owns and registered a boat in VA, I was wondering if VA issues titles for the boat, motor, and trailer. I know that in some states titles will only be issued to the boat and not trailer and motor. Thanks in advance.
  2. What's the minimum size limit for recreational fishing for a bluefin tuna? I looked all over the HMS website and can't seem to find the answer. I talked to 2 different people and they told me 2 different answers. One guy said 60" and the other said 73". So which is it?
  3. I'm going to be coming down this weekend to try my luck at the striper fishing but need a place to park my boat and trailer overnight. I called the fishing center and they said they are full. I asked the hotel where we are going to stay at and they said they don't have parking for boat and trailer. Does anyone know where I can park the trailer and boat overnight? It will be this Saturday night. Thanks in advance.
  4. I've never caught a tautog before and would love to give it a try in the bay area. I've heard they are fun and very tasty. For those of you who are willing to share your expertise on catching these fish I would love to know how to catch them. I'd like to know the following: 1. What is best terminal tackle? (line size, hook size, sinker weight) 2. What is the best bait and where can I buy them? (I've heard blue crabs cut into 4 pieces) 3. Where in the CBBT can I go catch them? (i.e. Do I need to anchor for them or drift?) 4. Do I fish beside the island or do I anchor on top of the tunnel and fish the rocks? 5. When is the best time to catch them? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
  5. I'm thinking about coming up there this weekend and I've been watching this forum to get updates as to where the fish are at and how to catch them, but it seems that the last reports were from a week or so ago. Has the fishing been slow? Is the water too muddy? As of right now the weather looks okay for the weekend but have the fish all moved south? It's a 6 1/2 hour drive for me and I don't want to get there and the fish are gone. Also I'll be headed out of Rudee Inlet. Where do I need to go...North? South? Should I just be looking for menhanden schools and fish for them around the bait? What's the best tactic? Thanks in advance for all the help.
  6. Went way south toward the corolla light house. Water temp was around 37-39 on way there. Not a fish or bird within 3 miles of shoreline. Almost everyone was fishing outside of the 3 mile line. More like 6-8 miles from shore. There were probably over 100 boats out there on Thursday morning. I guess they were bluefin tuna fishing around all those gannets diving on bait. Seems like that would be a great place for striper fishing but then it's illegal to target stripers beyond 3 miles as you all know and the man will bust your a$$ if he catches you. The man is out there and he's watching you. Many undercover officers out there. Hopefully this warm front will push the fish closer or you can probably go even further south to get on some fish. 42 degree was the magic number for us. Got 19 in an hour of fishing. Find the right water temp, find the birds and you're on the fish.

    Sea Fox Boats. Any comments?

When you say electrical, do you mean all the electrical control to the bilge pump, lights, horn, etc.? Even with the electical issue, the engine still fired up right? Now, I've heard that most the the Sea Fox's come with the Suzuki motors. Are those good engines even after several years of usuage?
  8. I'm thinking about buying a Sea Fox maybe the 23 footer, but don't know much about them. I've heard that they have electrical issues but only on the 2005 and older models. I'm not wanting to spend a whole lot of money on this boat because I currently have a 07 Ranger Bay 2200 w/250 Evinrude E-tec and I'm only wanting a larger center console to go out maybe to 20 miles at the most. I'll only use it maybe 10-15 times a year and don't really need all the bells and whistles. I really just need something that will take me there and back comfortably and dry. I usually only go out in 2-3 ft waves and less because I'm not that experienced in offshore fishing (actually no experience in offshore except with a charter boat). I'm not sure if I want to take my Ranger boat out that far although I've heard of people doing so in calm conditions. I was looking at the Sea Fox's because of the price, but not sure if it's the right boat for me. I'm not looking at a new boat only the used ones in the year range 2003-2006. If anyone is currently a Sea Fox owner, please tell me about your experience with the boat both good and bad. Thanks.
  9. Anyone fishing at the Hot Ditch lately? I was wondering if there were still fish around there. Also if someone can tell me where to lauch my boat at any public boat ramp close to there and where I need to go to catch some fish. I'm coming from NC and would like any information that will help. Thanks everyone!
  10. Thanks for the reply, but I was actually refering to the air tempurture. I think it's supposed to be in the 20's for the high and teens for the low. Does this affect the fish? I know that usually it will shut down most fish in the lakes, but was sure if it will do the same for these ocean stripers.
  11. I was thinking about making a trip up there againg this weekend, but wasn't quite sure if the cold weather will hurt or help the fishing. It's a long drive me. 6 hrs to get there. Any info from you experienced rock fishers will help. Thanks
  12. Can someone help clarify the striper regulation for me? I was reading the regulation and from what I understand, if I catch a striper in the bay then it has to be between 18-28 inches for me to legally keep it and the daily limit is 2 fish, but in my creel, I can keep one that is over 34 inches. Is that correct? I've heard that if I fish in the bay then I can only keep 2 fish that are between 18-28 inches.
  13. I'm thinking about coming this weekend. I would only need it for Sat. night. $25 at Best Western is awesome. Do they have boat trailer parking? I would really need boat parking.
  14. Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew of any decently priced hotels or motels near the boat ramps that have parking for a boat trailer. I'm coming from NC and any info will help. If you know the price, that would be great. Thanks

    Any public boat launch?

Hey guys, are there any public boat launch ramps closer to the the CBBT than the rudee inlet one? If so, how do I get there and is it as crowded as the one at Owl creek. Also, is there an over spill parking if the lot is full. Thanks
