  1. We had a Mom and Dad take their sons out fishing with us a while back for the younger son’s birthday and the older son wanted a fishing trip too! This time the trip was for the older son and he wanted to catch a Shark for his Birthday. We had a Beautiful Day with lite winds and calm seas which made it easier for these young anglers to master their fishing techniques. The Boys showed Mom and Dad how to catch the Flounder today. We caught 6 Flounder up to 20 inches giving Mom and Dad plenty of Fresh Flounder Fillets for Dinner. We did have a real big one get off just before it got to the net. Near the end of the morning trip the Sharks granted the Birthdays Boys wish and came to play. We caught 3 Sharpnose Sharks to play with and then were released to catch another day. We didn’t catch any Puppy Drum or Bull Reds today, but they are still here. We also caught a Spanish Mackerel, Smooth Pufferfish, Seabass and Oyster Toads. We had a lot of fun with these guys and were looking forward to fishing with them again. Lots of Fun.

  3. We had our Hard-Core Fishing Couple with us again today and they brought a close friend and mate from the Bay Princess a local party boat that they fish on regularly when they are in the mood for Party/Head Boat Fishing. We had a Beautiful Day with lite winds. This young lady of 86 wanted to get one more Flounder Trip in before it gets cold. We caught 5 Flounder today up to 22 inches and as usual this young lady caught the biggest and warmed our hearts with her Excitement and Laughter as the Big Flounder hits the deck. We also had some Big Bull Red Drum action for the boys. We landed 3 Big Reds and missed a couple of short runs. The Big Reds gave the guys a good long hard fight to remember and a chance to hone their skill of fighting Monster Fish on Light Tackle. The Biggest of the Bull Red Drums was 50 inches and Qualified for the Virginia Big Fish Citation Award. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also had a rare for us catch of a Sting Ray (sorry no pic) and a Baby Butterfly Ray (pic posted). That was only our second Sting Ray we’ve caught in the Chesapeake Bay in over 30 years, and the smallest Butterfly Ray we’ve caught, they are usually about the size of a truck hood or bigger. Our most common Ray in the Chesapeake Bay is the Cownose Ray. We also caught Bluefish, Seabass, Smooth Puffer fish, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of fun.

  5. We had a couple fishing with us this morning who needed a distraction since their daughter just left for college. First off congratulations to them, hoorah!!! One cool observation we had out there today was it seemed to Couples Day on the Chesapeake Bay. We had two couples onboard including Me (Capt.) and my First Mate and the first 5 boats we encountered had one couple each on them. We caught 3 Bull Red Drum today. Mom caught the biggest and most, girls won today, and it was a good distraction from missing her daughter. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also caught a few nice Flounder up to 18 inches for dinner. Lots of fun

  7. Today we had a nice day and needed a bait run, so my First Mate and I took advantage of the day. It was beautiful today with light winds but the swells were bigger today with the incoming tide. We started looking for some Flounder for dinner and my First Mate caught a surprise Cobia on the first cast. We caught a few flounder, Sharks, Bluefish, Black Seabass and Oyster toads.

  9. We had our hard core fishing couple with us again this morning. The weather including Hurricane Florence had been keeping us from fishing, but when it finally looked fishable we had to go. It was a Beautiful Sunny Day. We caught 7 nice Flounder up to 18 inches and put a couple in the cooler. The Flounder were finicky and the bite was lite resulting in a few lost Flounder. We also caught a 31 inch Red Drum that wasn’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award ( 46 inches for Red Drum ). The Big Red may not have won a trophy but it sure gave him a fight to remember and wore him out for a bit. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. We hooked another Big Red obviously much bigger, but after a couple long runs it pulled the hook and got away. We also caught lots of the other stuff like Oyster Toads, Seabass a piece of Submerged Aquatic Vegetation and a Strangely Odd Smiling Puffer Fish. Lots of fun.
