  1. Today we had a Group of friends get out fishing with us for some Spadefish and Flounder Fishing. It was beautiful today with light winds keeping it calm on the bay today. We started with those Crazy Fighting Spadefish. It didn’t take long and they were in the groove and we caught our 8 person Boat Limit. We shifted over to Flounder Fishing and got a half dozen flounder up to 19 inches with 3 of them keepers. We also caught Bluefish and a keeper Black Seabass. We also got the Cobia Surprise and some reel screaming action. We also caught the normal variety of the other stuff like Oyster toads, small Sea bass.
  2. Today we had a Father get his sons out fishing with us for some Spadefish and Flounder Fishing. We caught some Flounder up to 19 inches and their limit of Spadefish. While Flounder fishing the younger son had a heavy one on and finally got it up and to our surprise it was a Rockfish (see picture). The older son had a nice one on fighting like a big doormat Flounder but when it got near the boat it went crazy and ran straight under the boat screaming line and got cut off by the running gear under the boat, never got a chance to see it so the Sea Monster got away this time. It was beautiful today with light winds keeping it calm on the bay today. We also caught the normal variety of the other stuff like Bluefish, Oyster toads, small Sea bass and even a surprise little Sea Donkey (Amberjack).
  3. We had a Group of Business Associates here for meeting get out fishing with Key Dreams this morning. It was a beautiful day but the South West winds were a bit stronger then we like but still fishable. We started with the Flounder again this morning which resulted in throwback flounder and toads. We picked the pace up with the Spadefish. These guys quickly got the hang of the bite and got their boat limit of 28 Spadefish for the Cooler and Catch and Released 4. Lots of Fun.
  4. We had a Mom Get her Son out for a Fun Family Fishing Trip and to celebrate his recent promotion in the Marines. It was a beautiful morning with light winds but just enough to keep it from getting hot out there on the bay most of the morning. We messed around with the Crazy Spadefish enjoying some radical rod bending and Catching our Boat limit. We fished for Flounder for a short period of time and ended putting a nice 18 incher in the box with the Spadefish. We also caught the normal other stuff like little Seabass, Oyster Toads, Skates and such. Lots of Fun.
  5. We had some regulars join us again this summer. This group of friends and family enjoyed a beautiful day on the Chesapeake Bay with light winds and calm seas. The Spadefish ended up taking center stage today catching their limit and keeping the rods bent with those Crazy Fish. When we were done with the Spadefish we went back to Flounder fishing and ended up catching 6 Flounder, 3 keepers up to 19 inches. We also caught the normal other stuff like a Shark, Skates, Croaker, Roundhead, little Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun with old friends.
  6. We had a Dad get his Daughter out fishing with us this morning. It was a beautiful day with SW winds but still a bit bumpy from the East blow the previous 2 days. We ended up catching 6 Flounder up to 19 inches. We started with the Spadefish catching the boat limit and keeping the rods bent with those Crazy Fish. At the end of the day it was clear that the Daughter out fished her dad putting the majority of the fish in the box. We saw one Cobia today and got the eel on him twice but he wasn’t interested. We also caught the normal other stuff like Croaker, Roundhead, Grey Trout, little Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  7. When the wind blew it blew hard in all directions with short interludes of calm seas. Near the end of May the weather started to get more stable like it’s trying to get into the summer pattern, then Tropical Storm Alberto hits Florida and gives us tons of rain for the tail end of May. The Tog season was extended to May 15th giving us two more weeks to catch them up. The Croaker started bighting good around the middle of May. Flounder bight was tough but a few nice fish were caught, our largest for May was 18 inches. The Flounder bite picked up real good June 1st last year and got better as the water warmed up. Red Drum have been cruising into the Bay coming up the coast real good the last couple of weeks along with the Cobia. Cobia season opens June 1st this year. Here is a picture of a Citation Red Drum we caught. Overall we had Lots of fun with Great People.

  19. We had a Mom and Dad get their kids out for some Family Fun Flounder fishing this morning for a half day trip. It was the youngest boys 7th birthday and he was a blast all morning. We finally had a short lay down of the waves and had a beautiful sunny morning with light southerly winds. Tropical Storm/Depression Julia has been lingering off the Eastern Coast messing up the weather for us lately. We spent the first couple hours catching Spot, Croaker, Roundheads, and little Grey Trout and the kids had a ball. I love seeing our next generation getting excited about fishing. Fishing is so much better than getting emotionally involved with an electronic device you hold in your hand. We spent the second half of the trip looking for something bigger. The kids where surprisingly quick at learning the techniques and strong for their size and I believe out-fished Mom and Dad. They caught Flounder up to 19 ½”, Puppy Drum up to 25”, Baby Cobia, Grey Trout up to 15”, Roundheads, Spot, Croaker, Baby Seabass, Puffer Fish, Oyster Toad, and they got just as excited about everyone. What a Blast, lots of fun.

The Biggest Drum for the day wasn’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award but there out there and we’ll get them soon. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.

  22. We had a family trip with Mom getting her Son out this morning for a half day fishing trip. We had a beautiful sunny day with light winds. It didn’t take long this morning for her son to get hooked up on a reel screamer. The Big Red Drum came in at 47 inched big enough for the Virginia Big Fish Release Citation Award. He ended up hooking into 3 of these Big Red Bull Drums, and two of them where big enough. The second citation was 46 ½ inches long. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also ended up with 4 nice keeper Flounder up to 20 inches in the box for some good eating. Lots of fun.
  23. We had Family and Friend group go out fishing with us today for a quick ½ day morning trip looking for a fun day on the Chesapeake Bay. We had lite winds which made the fishing easy and it was overcast making it a little cooler but we did get some light rain and sprinkles throughout the morning, but these girls didn’t care about getting a little wet, they were just having too much fun. First thing we hooked up on a reel screamer. Generally this time of year a reel screamer ends up being a Big Bull Red Drum, but this time it was a Big Sting Ray. They had a bunch of fun playing with the ray and taking pictures. We saw a bunch of Dolphins so we got a little closer for pics and they surrounded the boat while they were feeding and playing, even saw some flips and back stroking, there was also baby’s in the pod. Got back to fishing and everyone caught some really nice flounder. We ended up catching 7 Flounder with 5 of them Keeper size for dinner. Lots of Fun.
  24. After another Northeast Blow shutting us down for a spell we finally got out again for some fishing. We don’t take our folks out in that nasty weather and big waves, for us it’s all about the fun and keeping it safe for everybody and enjoying the day. Today we had a regular from New Jersey fishing with us again this year for a half day fishing trip. Last year she got her Big Red, but this year she wanted a Big Cobia, but still wanted some Flounder for eating. We knocked out our flounder fishing early catching them up to 19 inches, and then we spent the next 3 hours Cobia Fishing. It took a bit of looking to find them, but we did find a couple Cobia to play with. We also put Bluefish in the cooler and caught the other various fish like Black Sea Bass, Oyster Toads, and even a couple small Black Grouper. It was beautiful today with light winds and some overcast keeping it cooler.
  25. We had a group of friends get together and go out fishing with us Today for some Flounder and Drum fishing. We had a beautiful day with little to no wind and not too hot. We ended up messing around with some Spadefish today and put 6 in the box with one bluefish for a little variety. We also caught the normal other stuff like Croakers, Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
