  1. We had our Hard-Core Fishing Couple with us again today and they brought a close friend and mate from the Bay Princess a local party boat that they fish on regularly when they are in the mood for Party/Head Boat Fishing. We had a Beautiful Day with lite winds. This young lady of 86 wanted to get one more Flounder Trip in before it gets cold. We caught 5 Flounder today up to 22 inches and as usual this young lady caught the biggest and warmed our hearts with her Excitement and Laughter as the Big Flounder hits the deck. We also had some Big Bull Red Drum action for the boys. We landed 3 Big Reds and missed a couple of short runs. The Big Reds gave the guys a good long hard fight to remember and a chance to hone their skill of fighting Monster Fish on Light Tackle. The Biggest of the Bull Red Drums was 50 inches and Qualified for the Virginia Big Fish Citation Award. The Big Reds were all released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also had a rare for us catch of a Sting Ray (sorry no pic) and a Baby Butterfly Ray (pic posted). That was only our second Sting Ray we’ve caught in the Chesapeake Bay in over 30 years, and the smallest Butterfly Ray we’ve caught, they are usually about the size of a truck hood or bigger. Our most common Ray in the Chesapeake Bay is the Cownose Ray. We also caught Bluefish, Seabass, Smooth Puffer fish, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of fun.
  2. We had a couple fishing with us this morning who needed a distraction since their daughter just left for college. First off congratulations to them, hoorah!!! One cool observation we had out there today was it seemed to Couples Day on the Chesapeake Bay. We had two couples onboard including Me (Capt.) and my First Mate and the first 5 boats we encountered had one couple each on them. We caught 3 Bull Red Drum today. Mom caught the biggest and most, girls won today, and it was a good distraction from missing her daughter. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. We also caught a few nice Flounder up to 18 inches for dinner. Lots of fun
  3. We had our Hard Core Fishing Couple on board again today for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. This young lady and her husband love to go fishing every year with us for their anniversary. A beautiful morning with calm seas with an unlikely chance of rain unfortunately turned into running around to avoid a Thunderstorm and then another shower, so we went in a little earlier than usual. We got to see a Beautiful Double Rainbow (second rainbow is a little hard to see it in the picture). We still had a fun time and made good with the time we had catching some Spadefish and a Red Drum at 29 inches today. We also caught a Shark, Skates, Oyster Toads, Seabass and Croaker, It was another fun day with these guys as usual and a beautiful day on the Chesapeake Bay.
  4. We had friends and family get out fishing with us this weekend. The forecast was sketchy at best but managed to take advantage of the Red Drum. Lots of fun.
  5. We had a Father with his sons on vacation get together with us this morning to go on the hunt for some Flounder and Big Red Drum. We had some tough weather with high seas up to 5 foot lately so we had canceled our trips since the last report, finally we had a beautiful morning with south winds and the seas laid down. The water was still sandy and the Flounder bite was really tough today, we didn’t catch any keepers, but the Big Red Drum, Ray, Shark and Sea bass gave us the most action today. We ended up catching some Big Bull Red Drum today measuring 33 and 41 inches that weren’t big enough for the Big Fish Virginia Citation Award ( 46 inches for Red Drum ). The 41 incher is bigger than it looks because the big guy holding it is 6’5”. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. We were back to the dock around noon and beat the Afternoon Storm. Lots of fun.
  6. We had a Mom and Dad get their kids out for some Family Fun Flounder fishing this morning for a half day trip. It was the youngest boys 7th birthday and he was a blast all morning. We finally had a short lay down of the waves and had a beautiful sunny morning with light southerly winds. Tropical Storm/Depression Julia has been lingering off the Eastern Coast messing up the weather for us lately. We spent the first couple hours catching Spot, Croaker, Roundheads, and little Grey Trout and the kids had a ball. I love seeing our next generation getting excited about fishing. Fishing is so much better than getting emotionally involved with an electronic device you hold in your hand. We spent the second half of the trip looking for something bigger. The kids where surprisingly quick at learning the techniques and strong for their size and I believe out-fished Mom and Dad. They caught Flounder up to 19 ½”, Puppy Drum up to 25”, Baby Cobia, Grey Trout up to 15”, Roundheads, Spot, Croaker, Baby Seabass, Puffer Fish, Oyster Toad, and they got just as excited about everyone. What a Blast, lots of fun.
  7. We had a group of friends get together and go out fishing with us Today for some Flounder and Drum fishing. We had a beautiful day with little to no wind and not too hot. We ended up catching 12 Flounder with 9 of them Keeper size up to 22 inches. We hit 2 Red Drum Today 30”, 31” inches, all the Reds today where “Betweener Red Drum” Between keeper size and Trophy Citation size. We ended up messing around with some Spadefish today and put 6 in the box with one bluefish for a little variety. We also caught the normal other stuff like Croakers, Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  8. We had a fathers get his son and nephew out for some fishing. Today the Puppy Drum too big to keep and our biggest Red Drum measured in at 47 inches which was big enough for a Virginia Big Fish Citation Trophy. We also caught some Flounder, Grey Trout, Bluefish, Seabass Oyster toads and such. The Big Red was released and swam off strong to fight another day. Maybe you can land a Big Red Drum, give us a call. Lots of fun.
  9. We had another group of friends get together and go out fishing with us Today for some Flounder and Drum fishing. We had another beautiful day. We ended up catching 8 Flounder with 3 of them Keeper size and two of them Flounder where in the 5-6 pound range. We hit 3 Red Drum Today 31”, 28”, 27” inches, all the Reds today where “Betweener Red Drum” Between keeper size and Trophy Citation size. We messed around with some sharks today and had a double hook up on two Black Tip Sharks for some catch and release action. We also caught the normal other stuff like Croakers, bluefish, Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  10. We had a group of friends get together Today for some Flounder fishing. We had a beautiful day, but a bit breezy at times. We ended up catching 11 Flounder with 5 of them Keeper size up to 19 inches and a keeper Puppy Drum 25 inches. We also caught the other stuff like Croakers, bluefish, Seabass, Oyster Toads and such. Lots of Fun.
  11. My 1st mate and I went out today since it was so nice and we hadn’t had a chance to fish for ourselves for a while. My mate wanted a Virginia Big Fish Citation for a Red Drum for herself and she got one at 47 inches. We also caught some Puppy Drum and a few nice striper ranging from 20 to 29 inches. Lots of fun.
  12. We had a group friends on vacation get together this morning to go on the hunt for some Flounder and whatever else we could find. It was a beautiful sunny day with light variable winds. The Flounder bite was really tough today with only 4 Flounder that where too small to keep. The Red Drum and baby Black Seabass gave us the most action today. We did get one Black Seabass that measured at 13 ½ inches for the box, but the rest where too small. We ended up catching some nice Puppy Red Drum and some Big Bull Red Drum today and two of them were big enough for a Virginia Big Fish Citation Trophy at 46 ½ and 47 inches for the release citation. We only got a couple pictures today since with all the excitement we forgot to turn the camera off and the battery died on us. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
  13. We had a group of retired friends get together this morning to share time together doing some Flounder fishing with us. It was a beautiful sunny day with light variable winds. We ended up with 5 nice keeper Flounder up to 20 inches, 2 Keeper Grey trout up to 17 ½ inches, 2 keeper Puppy Drum, Croaker, Roundhead and pan size Bluefish for the cooler. The Big Reds were released and swam off strong to fight another day. Lots of fun.
