Wind on Swivles

Recommended Posts

I want to use a wind-on swivle on my 80 class rod (is has the wide roller guides on it) and reel. I have 200 lb power pro and will use a 200 lb 100' top shot of Berkley Big Game Mono. I assume I would crimp the mono to the swivle (single or double barrel crimp?) and then maybe tie a bimini with the braid and then loop it through the swivle or just use a palomar knot? What would you all suggest?

Thanks in advance

If your coming off your braid with bimini, then I would use a cats paw to tie on your swivel..... If your using an inline swivel to join braid to mono, I would use a sebile knot to make this connection. Your wind on leader will get caught in your roller guides if the fish makes a run after seeing the boat.

I use a bimini/offshore swivel knot on the braid side and crimp the mono...works great....Bob

Same knot as the Cat's Paw. Learned something new cat's paw and offshore swivel knot are the same knot!

That knot is super simple and quick! I used a Spro 150 LB wind on swivle, tied a Bimini on the 200 LB Power Pro and then crimped the 200 lb Berkley Big Game mono using a double barrle swivle. The whole knot swivle and crimp are not bulky at all and should pass through the extra wide roller guides smoothly. I only use one crimp so I hopefully it is strong enough.

meant to say "double barrle sleave" not swivle.
